HD Vision and Senior Dogs

Put on my new contacts this morning and genuinely felt like I'd been upgraded. Everything just… clear. Crisp. The whole drive on the highway I was like, oh — so this is what other people see all the time 👁️ lol. I don't know if I've ever appreciated good vision so much in my life.

We went into the city today. Jordan met up with his friend, and I went to deliver Cody's gift — an affirmation board with little phrases like "Laugh more," "Be happy," things like that. I'd thought he might like something warm and a little playful, and he seemed to genuinely love it, which felt good. It's a small thing, but I think small things land when they're chosen well.

After that we grabbed Thai food at a place we'd actually been to before, a few months back — and it held up. I got the spicy drunken noodles and they were really good, the kind of dish that makes the whole outing feel worth it just on its own.

But the unexpected highlight was right next door: a senior dog rescue. 🐾

I didn't know what to expect walking in, but it was genuinely one of the nicer things I've stumbled into in a while. Big space, more volunteers than I anticipated, and dogs everywhere just being… cared for. I found out they take in about 20 dogs a week and adopt out about 20 a week — which means they've got a real operation going, not just a shelter holding pattern but an actual throughput of second chances. That kind of thing always gets to me a little, the organizational care behind it, the fact that someone built this deliberately.

There was this small white curly-haired dog who just settled into being petted like he'd decided I was trustworthy and that was that. I stayed with him longer than I probably meant to.

Evening: started my 7-day workout plan and ended up spending about 2.5 hours at the gym. Which is a lot, genuinely — but it felt right for a first day, like setting a tone. My body will probably have opinions about this tomorrow. 💪

Good day overall. The contacts, the gift, the noodles, the dogs. Sometimes a Sunday just delivers.
