Micro Center and Tropic Thunder
Bay Area day. Did some work in the morning and mid-afternoon, then Jordan wanted to go visit a Micro Center — he only recently learned about it. So we went, and with very little surprise, he LOVED the place 😂. Computers, 3D printer stuff, RAM, all kinds of things a tech geek like him would lose his mind over. He's been talking about it ever since.
After that we grabbed boba and desserts at 85°C 🧋, then dinner at Yiassoo, a Greek place Jordan really loves. The Greek food was delicious, as always. I like it because it feels healthy — balanced portions, yogurt, all of that 🥙.
Later that night we watched Tropic Thunder 🎬. At first I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but the whole satirical angle really got to me and I was having fun. Very funny, very interesting — a movie making fun of itself and the industry.
Robert Downey Jr. playing an Australian actor playing an American Black guy — I was genuinely shocked by the end, because I totally bought that he was a Black guy 😭. Like damn, he's really good. A lot of weird things about Hollywood get addressed in the film, though I still wish a few more things were touched on — like, I don't know, the fact that the Vietnam War even happened in the first place lol, and maybe painting the antagonist in less of a cartoonishly bad light. Anywho.
Overall it was a good movie, and I'm glad Asian actors at least got to play a part and get some work through it 🎭.
